Omega Phi Beta Foundation Announces 2025 Scholarship Recipients, Honoring Excellence in STEM/STEAM

August 29, 2025… New York, New York. The Omega Phi Beta Foundation (OPBF) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 scholarship awards: the Be a Rising Bud Scholarship, the STEM to Flowers Scholarship, and the Fully Bloomed Scholarship. These scholarships recognize and uplift high school seniors, college first-year students, and mothers who are pursuing education and personal advancement in the fields of STEM and Arts.

Each year, OPBF honors individuals who embody resilience, creativity, leadership, and a deep commitment to community. This year’s winners exemplify the Foundation’s mission to provide access to educational and professional opportunities for women and underserved communities.

Be a Rising Bud Scholarship

Recipient: Jovana Hawkins

This scholarship supports high school seniors and college first-year students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Arts.

Jovana’s journey began on the sidelines of Sunday football games, where a simple question to her father, “What’s so special about football,” ignited a lifelong passion for sports broadcasting. Inspired by the lack of women representation in sports media, she plans to pursue a degree in Sports Media and Journalism. Her goal is to amplify diverse voices in the industry and bring integrity to storytelling in sports.

STEM to Flowers Scholarship

Recipient: Brooklyn Winslow LeVoir

Awarded to students pursuing undergraduate studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), this scholarship recognizes a commitment to innovation and community impact.

Motivated by a desire to bring dignity and justice to victims of unsolved crimes, Brooklyn is pursuing a future in forensic science. Her passion lies not only in solving cases but in challenging systemic inequities in the justice system. She plans to study biochemistry, criminology, and forensic science, using DNA technology to bring truth to light and honor the humanity of every victim.

Fully Bloomed Scholarship

Recipient: Rachel M. Copeland-Nunn

This scholarship is awarded to mothers pursuing any form of post-secondary education, including degrees, certifications, and professional training.

Rachel is a mother of three and a student where she is earning an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming. Passionate about web development and coding, Rachel is building a career that offers creativity, flexibility, and stability. Her goal is to support her family while mentoring other women, especially single mothers and survivors of domestic violence, seeking entry into the tech industry.

“We are incredibly proud of this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Jessica Saul, Chair of Omega Phi Beta Foundation. “Their stories reflect purpose and the power of education to transform lives. We look forward to supporting their journeys and celebrating their future successes.”
